Songwriter, filmmaker and performer Mr Menno has created his own sea shanty to celebrate same sex attraction.
Sea shanties have become even more popular since Scottish postal worker Nathan Evans’ chart hit Wellerman. Mr Menno’s sea shanty is a celebration of same sex attraction with the chorus: “Lesbians, bi’s and gays, we’re still fighting every day, to rid the world of shame around same sex attraction!”
Mr Menno writes on his YouTube channel: “It’s LGBT+ History Month. Here’s a sea shanty to celebrate same sex attraction. Throughout the years our sexual orientation has been used to shame us LGB folk, and it’s horrifying to now have a contingent *within our community* who are telling us that biological sex isn’t even ‘a thing’, thus denying what homosexuality and bisexuality are.
“They call us ‘genital fetishists’ or ‘transphobic’ for acknowledging the reality of sex and knowing what a man or woman is. When we talk about it we are called bigots and reported for ‘hate speech’. It’s blatant homophobia. I’m not having it, and I won’t be shamed into silence.”
