The Lesbian Spring Gathering has been taking place every year since 1974 in different cities of Germany and with a different theme each year. For the first time this year, the event will take place online. We asked the organisers to tell us more.
Our theme this year. “Lesbian Spring – Rising to the Roots” will look back at the treasures of our lesbian herstory as well as at our lives today. Nowadays, as back then, in Germany and all around the world, many lesbians live politically for and with women, resolutely against patriarchal social structures and destructive ways of life.
For this reason, our program, which includes workshops, readings, discussions, films, music and virtual 3D art exhibition and much more, is internationally oriented, with a strong focus on the female body and body politics. Some of the workshops will be in English while others (we are working on this) hopefully will be translated/subtitled. Please keep an eye on our website which will be updated constantly.
We decided in January to turn the Lesbian Spring Gathering into an online event. Unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic still brings too many uncertainties for us to be able to plan a meeting in real life for around 600 to 800 lesbians.
